Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the team that pays out $41.25 million in total, Michael Silver of NFL Network reported Wednesday.

The contract extension makes him the NFL’s highest paid running back. The extension also includes $22 million in guarantees, and $17.3 million fully guaranteed. NFL Insider Ian Rapaport reports that Freeman also receives a $15 million signing bonus.

“We are very pleased that we were able to get this extension done,”¬†Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said. “Devonta embodies everything we are looking for in a Falcon, and we are proud that he’ll be able to spend his career here in Atlanta.”

Last season, Freeman had 227 carries for 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns.
