The highly anticipated matchup between TUF 25 coaches and bitter rivals Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw has been booked for UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to Garbrandt’s official Twitter account.
Current UFC bantamweight champion Garbrandt (11-0, 6-0 UFC) is coming back from a back injury that forced him out of the first scheduled bout between the two at UFC 213. He will be making his first title defense since winning the belt from Dominick Cruz at UFC 207.
Dillashaw (15-3, 10-3 UFC) is the former bantamweight champion who ever since losing the belt to Cruz in January of 2016, has won two straight against Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker to earn a shot back at the belt.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw are best known for their bitter rivalry over the split of Team Alpha Male and Dillashaw following coach Duane Ludwig to Elevation Fight Team in Denver, Colorado. Most of their beef poured over on last season of The Ultimate Fighter when the two were the coaches of the season.
The bout has now been confirmed to be on the card.
