The dream matchup between current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former champion and legendary UFC fighter Georges St. Pierre is signed and set for UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden in New York, as announced by St. Pierre on his official Instagram account.
The photo on St. Pierre’s Instagram account shows him signing the bout agreement to fight Bisping at the UFC 217, which just saw Cody Garbrandt vs. TJ Dillashaw put on the card as well. The fight is for the middleweight championship.
Bisping (31-7, 20-7 UFC) will make his first title defense of 2017, and his second overall title defense since defending it for the first time against Dan Henderson in October of 2016. He secured the title in June of 2016, knocking out Luke Rockhold in the first round.
As for St. Pierre (25-2, 19-2 UFC), he is making his first appearance in the Octagon since his retirement fight with Johny Hendricks in November of 2013. It was at the time his 10th defense of the welterweight title.
This bout was originally announced at the beginning of the year with a date and place to be determined but was postponed further due to St. Pierre dealing with eye problems.
UFC 217 will air on Saturday, November 4th on Pay-Per-View.
